TFI Builds Deep Community and Connection in New York

By Kahlil Chatmon

Over four powerful days at Bard College in New York, ten of our TFI alumni (now rising college juniors) joined fifteen first-year students from D.C.’s TFI “BAMFi” program for a transformative ambassador experience led by Brothers and facilitators. This unique, intergenerational cohort created a rare and powerful space where wisdom, vulnerability, and lived experience flowed freely between young men at different stages of their college journeys.

Together they built real community, gained clarity about their futures, and confronted fears related to college and adulthood. Our juniors modeled what it means to persist and lead with integrity. The freshmen departed with blueprints, belief, and a renewed sense of purpose. The experience reshaped how these Kings see themselves and the lives they intend to build—personally, academically, and collectively.

More than a college-prep trip, this experience reflects the essence of our work. It is about growing men who are emotionally rooted, intellectually curious, and socially responsible. It is not just about getting to college; it is about becoming the kind of men who will shape families, institutions, and communities for generations to come.
