Educator of the Month: Jerold Robinson
Brother Jerold is one of our Crowns Curriculum facilitators who teaches at Bessie Carmichael Elementary School in San Francisco. He has been rocking with us since the African-American Male Achievement days, and his experience as a facilitator shows. If you were to visit him at Bessie Carmichael, you would witness a masterclass in student engagement, expert facilitation, and undeniable dedication.
The rituals in his classroom are not just a checklist; he uses them to connect with each of his Kings from before they even walk into the classroom, and until the very last second of class. He holds his Kings to a high standard of excellence, teaching them about the Black heroes and sheroes that came before them. The information his elementary Kings have retained as a collective is impressive, and certainly a testament to his effective facilitation style. It is clear he also holds himself to an equally high standard to deliver an exceptional classroom experience.
He goes above and beyond to create successful, authentic ,and impactful relationships with his Kings, also serving as a coach for many of them outside the classroom. From intentional call-ins and check-ins to affirmations and celebrations, Brother Jerold demonstrates both in his actions and his words how to keep our Kings engaged, encouraged ,and empowered at all times in the classroom. Brother Jerold, we see you, we appreciate you and all that you do for our Kings!
