Facilitator of the Month: Bro Otto Animates Our Summer

Every month, Kingmakers of Oakland celebrates an educator who embodies our mission and uplifts our Kings. For our July newsletter, we are thrilled to announce Bro Otto as our Facilitator of the Month! Bro Otto was the driving force as an animator leading our summer animation program, bringing incredible expertise and passion to the KOO Labs Academies.

Bro Otto came to us highly recommended by staff at the Oakland Unified School District, who offered him unbelievable praise. Otto was an immediate blessing to the team. He quickly understood our mission and values, perfectly aligning them with his own approach as an educator. Almost instantly upon his arrival, he developed strong, meaningful relationships with both our staff and the youth.

What makes Bro Otto truly exceptional is his dedication to student success at every level. During the summer animator training, he demonstrated remarkable culturally responsive teaching strategies by connecting directly with students, getting eye level to ensure they are seen and heard. He also expertly scaffolded his curriculum, creating highly differentiated spaces that successfully met the needs of everyone from first-year beginners to advanced third-year students. By meeting our Kings where they were, he ensured every single student felt supported and walked away having developed brand-new skills they didn't have before.
