Help Lead the Movement: Join Our Board

At Kingmakers of Oakland, our mission is to radically improve the educational and life outcomes of Black boys by shifting the narrative from "at-risk" to "at-promise." As we prepare for our new fiscal year this June, we are opening a search for new Board Members to help guide our next chapter of growth.

We are looking for passionate, strategic thinkers from all backgrounds who are ready to roll up their sleeves. Whether you are a veteran in your field or a rising leader with a fresh perspective, we want people who believe in the power of the "Village."

What’s Involved?

Board members provide vital oversight and advocacy. You’ll participate in quarterly meetings and serve on an advisory board for one of our signature programs, such as KOOLabs Academies, the Crowns Curriculum, or our Sankofa Kings Fellowship. You’ll also play a key role in our fundraising efforts and help ensure our programs and curricula reaches the widest possible audience.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you are committed to equity and want to help us sustain this movement, we want to hear from you. We are looking to finalize our new cohort by June.

To express interest or learn more about the role, please reach out directly to our Founder and CEO, Chris Chatmon, at chris@kingmakersofoakland.org.
