KINGS IN THE MAKING: The AI² Lab Saturday January 17th at Envision Academy
We’re excited for next month's event, KINGS IN THE MAKINGThe AI² Lab — Ancestral Intelligence × Artificial Intelligence, a one-of-a-kind experience where students will explore how legacy and technology come together to shape our future.
Being hosted at Envision Academy of Arts and Technology in West Oakland, this half-day immersive lab will take place on Saturday, January 17 from 8AM–1PM.
More than just a tech workshop, the AI² Lab is where culture meets code, where our youth tap into their histories, harness their creativity, and learn how to ethically engage with powerful AI tools to tell their own stories.
Youth will be guided by a powerhouse team of Black creatives, technologists, and educators, including:
Theo Hollingsworth, KOO’s Director of Digital Media and Strategic Growth and former Pixar animation producer, who blends animation, documentary, and storytelling to center joy, identity, and liberation.
Senay Alkebu-Lan, Fashion Lab Program Manager and founder of Futurisme Studios, whose work weaves fashion, music, film, and healing into unforgettable youth-centered design experiences.
Miles Dotson, tech builder, investor, and strategic partner with HiiWav, who brings deep knowledge of innovation and product development in advanced technology spaces.
Gemeny Givens III, AI researcher and former Innovation Educator at The Hidden Genius Project, who helps young people bridge the gap between AI theory and real-world application.
LeAndrew Robinson, Founder of PosterChild, who leverages his two decades of experience running nonprofits to help organizations scale their impact by using AI to capture, organize, and share community stories consistently, turning visibility into reliable funding.
Jonas Fleur-Aime, Founding Software Engineer at PosterChild.ai and experienced software development veteran, who works to build AI tools that help nonprofits connect with their communities and secure funding, bringing over 15 years of expertise in delivering successful software projects for clients like Google, Coca-Cola, and the NAACP.
Damien McDuffie, Founder of Black Terminus AR, an augmented reality studio that offers a no-code mobile camera app to empower artists, brands, and museums to create 2D and 3D AR projects using only a phone or tablet. As a co-founder of Wine & Bowties, a digital agency, he is also a classically trained writer, brand strategist, and multi-platform storyteller driven by crafting stories that inspire community and creative courage.
This is an incredible opportunity for students who are curious about AI, passionate about their roots, or simply ready to learn how to use today’s tools to build tomorrow’s stories with purpose and power.
