A Summer of Creativity, Culture, and Community at KOO Labs

This summer, Kingmakers of Oakland is opening the doors of KOO Labs to youth across Oakland and the Bay Area with a free creative summer program designed to inspire the next generation of creators and leaders.

At a time when many summer opportunities come with high costs, Kingmakers of Oakland is committed to making access to creative education and mentorship available to all families raising kings in our communities.

Running from June 1 through July 9, Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 2 PM, the KOO Lab Summer Program will take place at the KOO Lab Design Center in West Oakland. Youth participants can explore pathways in music, fashion, animation, and media while gaining hands-on experience through real-world creative projects.

The KOO Lab experience is more than just a summer program, but connects students with Black professionals and creatives who are actively building successful careers in their industries. Through mentorship, collaboration, and skill-building, youth will develop confidence, creativity, and tools they can carry into school, future careers, and their own artistic journeys.

Families are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. Help us spread the word and continue building opportunities for young people throughout Oakland this summer.
