Portraits of a King: Beyond Labels OUt now

We are thrilled to announce that the complete six-part docuseries, "Portraits of a King: Beyond Labels," is now available to watch!

This powerful series has been a labor of love for Kingmakers of Oakland, and we are incredibly proud to share these stories with our village. "Beyond Labels" takes an intimate look at the journeys of six young Black men as they navigate the education system while being identified with special learning needs.

Through their authentic voices, we aim to explore, destigmatize, and elevate the unique brilliance that each of these Kings possesses. This is more than just a film project; it is a direct challenge to the deficit-based narratives that too often define Black boys in our schools. Instead, we are shifting the focus to celebrate the "genius of difference" and to improve outcomes for all our students. Each 5-7 minute episode is a window into their world, showcasing their resilience, their talents, and their ultimate success.
