Watch Revolution Remix: Six Years Later, Still Speaking

In 2020, everything changed.

The world shut down. Our communities were grieving. And the uprisings following the murder of George Floyd forced all of us to sit with some hard truths—about this country, about justice, and about what healing really looks like.

At Kingmakers of Oakland, we did what we’ve always done in moments like that: we turned to art. To music. To storytelling. To each other.

That moment gave birth to Revolution Remix—an EP and short film created in real time as a way to process the pain, the anger, the love, and the resilience we were all holding. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t distant. It was honest. And it was necessary.

Six years later, we’re finally ready to share it more widely.

For the first time, we’re making the Revolution Remix film series available to the public on our YouTube channel. Part 1, “Hurt,” featuring Walt, Sequoia, Zo1, Freegame Vic, and Amari, is out now. The visuals are raw, the lyrics still cut deep—and the message feels just as relevant today as it did then.

This release isn’t about nostalgia. It’s about reflection. It’s about honoring where we were, recognizing how far we’ve come, and continuing to tell the truth—especially when it’s uncomfortable.
