Are you an Oakland student passionate about music, tech, and storytelling? The Golden State Music & Technology Program—presented by NBA 2K in partnership with Kingmakers of Oakland, The Golden State Warriors and Golden State Entertainment—is officially opening applications for our upcoming Spring cohort!
This 12-week program offers Oakland youth (ages 14–24) exclusive, hands-on experience in the music industry. Hosted at Kingmakers of Oakland’s state-of-the-art KOOlabs Design Center and Production House, participants work directly in professional recording studios, train on industry-standard equipment, and receive direct mentorship from seasoned industry creators.
The curriculum dives deep into three specialized tracks:
Beatmaking: Hands-on beat production and audio engineering
DJing: Mixing, scratching, and performance techniques
Lyric Writing: Storytelling, song structuring, and developing your authentic artistic voice.
Programming runs from January through April 2027, meeting twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Tour our production facilities and sound stages, participate in rotating 20-minute mini-workshops across all three tracks, connect with mentors, and enjoy complimentary food, music, and special guest appearances. Attendees will also have priority access to submit applications on-site!
