Welcome to the Board: Announcing Tsadiku Obolu
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Tsadiku Obolu to the Kingmakers of Oakland Board of Directors. As an organization dedicated to providing young people in Oakland with the resources and culturally relevant education they need to succeed, we are always looking for leaders who not only understand our mission but have lived it. Tsadiku Obolu is exactly that kind of leader.
A History of Impact
Tsadiku’s dedication to educational equity began long before his professional career. While still in high school, he served as Chief of Staff for a College and Career Readiness program, managing a team of 30 students to develop a peer-to-peer learning platform. His leadership in that role helped raise over $40,000 for the program and contributed to a 49% increase in FAFSA completion school-wide.
This passion followed him to the University of California, Berkeley. As a Regent’s and Chancellor’s Scholar in the prestigious Management, Entrepreneurship, & Technology Program, Tsadiku noticed a significant resource gap for Black students attempting to secure high-level internships. In response, he founded the Consulting Branch of the Haas Undergraduate Black Business Association. This fellowship provided targeted workshops on professional development and resume building to bridge the gap for his peers.
Innovation and "Hustling School"
Currently, Tsadiku serves as an Associate Product Manager at Google, where he utilizes Large Language Models (LLMs) to extract content across the web and designs security onboarding infrastructure.
However, his work in EdTech and mentorship continues outside of the office. He recently co-founded The Obolu Blueprint with his sister. Their curriculum teaches students how to "hustle school"—empowering them to navigate educational systems not just for admission to elite institutions, but as a tool for economic mobility and personal fulfillment.
Aligned Visions
Tsadiku describes his journey as a continuous effort to create "the systems and resources that my peers needed but did not have". This perfectly mirrors the vision of Kingmakers of Oakland.
With interests ranging from EdTech and financial literacy to social justice and anime, Tsadiku brings a dynamic, multi-faceted perspective to our leadership team. We are confident that his background in technology, combined with his lifelong commitment to student success, will be a tremendous asset to our vision.
Please join us in welcoming Tsadiku Obolu to the Kingmakers family!
