Building on a decade of legacy, Kingmakers of Oakland curates intergenerational conferences designed to expose Black boys to the complexity, beauty, and innate greatness of life.
From Legacy to Ascension
In 2010, a call to action was answered. What began as the "Man Up" conference, a space for intergenerational groups of Black men and their sons to "get the culture", has evolved.
Through over 25 convenings and a decade of impact, we’ve learned that our young brothers don’t need to be "fixed", they need to be seen. Today, Kings In The Making is the evolution of that mission. We provide a sanctuary where elementary, middle, and high school Kings engage in hands-on projects that reveal their brilliance.

We curate high-energy, project-based environments where culture and excellence meet. Each event is a half-day immersion tailored to the developmental stages of our Kings. We ensure every King is fueled and outfitted for success:
Fuel for the Journey: We provide free breakfast and lunch for all participants, ensuring our Kings are nourished and ready to engage.
The Uniform of Excellence: Every participant receives a specially designed, limited-edition Kings In The Making T-shirt to wear with pride.
A Space for All Ages: Tailored tracks for Elementary, Middle, and High School Kings to explore identity, leadership, and community.
