ABOUT the residency

Welcome to the Sankofa Kings Community Showcase! Over the past several weeks, 25 young Black men in Oakland transformed from passive consumers of technology into active digital architects. Rooted in ancestral wisdom and driven by Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR), our Kings identified systemic "bugs" within their communities—from education gaps to youth employment—and engineered custom AI tools to solve them.

Tonight, we celebrate their technical brilliance, leadership, and unwavering commitment to Oakland’s future.
