A Journey Worthy of the Crown: Celebrating Our Graduating Kings
To our community, our families, and most importantly, our graduating Kings:
As I sit down to write this, I find myself looking back at the last three years with a profound sense of awe. When we first began this journey together through the Kingmakers Fellowship Initiative (TFI), I saw a group of young men with untapped potential, perhaps unaware of the sheer weight and power their voices carried. Today, I look at a brotherhood of Kings who move with purpose, speak with conviction, and lead with heart.
True transformation doesn't happen overnight; it is forged in the quiet, consistent moments of showing up. I want us to take a second to really sit with the numbers, because they represent a level of discipline that is rare:
3 Years of unwavering commitment.
3 Saturdays every month.
72 Sessions total, totaling hundreds of hours of growth.
The most beautiful part of this journey has been watching the shift in their posture. I’ve watched them evolve from young men who might wait for an opportunity to find them, into Kings who step up, show up, and advocate for themselves. Whether we were navigating the physical and mental challenges of our Outward Bound backpacking trip or walking the historic grounds of our 9-day HBCU tour, I have had a front-row seat to their transformation. They have moved from a place of seeking belonging to a place of creating it for one another. They have cultivated a level of self-efficacy that ensures they won’t just enter college and career spaces, but they will thrive in them.
A Note of Gratitude
To our TFI Families: Thank you. Thank you for trusting our team and our organization with your sons. We know that "it takes a village" isn't just a cliché—it’s a commitment. Your support made this brotherhood possible.
To Our Graduating Kings
We see you. We see the late nights, the Saturday sacrifices, and the courage it took to remain vulnerable enough to grow. We are beyond proud of the men you have become.
As you step into this next chapter, know that the tools you’ve gathered here are yours forever. You are college, career, and community ready. But more importantly, you are King-ready. We are, and will always be, behind you every single step of the way.
With gratitude, pride, and brotherhood,
Kahlil Chatmon
