Celebrating May’s Facilitator of the Month: Kahlil Chatmon

As we wrap up another incredible academic year, it is our distinct honor to spotlight a leader whose dedication, heart, and vision embody the very essence of our mission. This May, we are thrilled to name Kahlil Chatmon as our Kingmakers of Oakland Facilitator of the Month!

Kahlil has spent years on the front lines of our work, and this month perfectly highlights why he is such a pillar of our community. As the lead for one of our staple programs, The Fellowship Initiative (TFI), Kahlil is currently preparing for a monumental Crowning Ceremony to honor the young Kings in his cohort. This moment is the culmination of a deeply committed four-year journey. Kahlil has walked alongside these students since their freshman year, guiding them through rigorous academics, preparing them for the demands of higher education, and leading them on transformative college tours.

Now, as they stand on the precipice of graduation, Kahlil is making sure they enter the next chapter fully supported. This season alone, he spearheaded the charge to secure over $650,000 in scholarship funds for the cohort. Furthermore, Kahlil is helping to honor and disseminate scholarships from the Jean Wing Memorial Scholarshipto deserving TFI scholars, ensuring our ancestors' legacy continues to fuel our future leaders. This crowning ceremony will be his opportunity to celebrate these Kings one final time before they head off to campuses across the country.

"Kahlil doesn't just manage a program; he walks life's path alongside our Kings, ensuring they have the financial, academic, and emotional resources to thrive." - Theo Hollingsworth (Kingmakers of Oakland Director of Digital Media and Growth Strategy)

But Kahlil’s impact doesn't stop with graduation. Always looking forward, he is already co-facilitating a groundbreaking new initiative: Sankofa Kings. This innovative tech fellowship bridges past and future by merging ancestral intelligence with artificial intelligence, ensuring our young men are at the forefront of the digital frontier.

As the son of our CEO and founder, Chris Chatmon, Kahlil carries a profound legacy, but he has undeniably carved out his own powerful footprint. His relentless dedication, innovative spirit, and deep love for the brotherhood truly exemplify what it means to be a Kingmaker.

Thank you, Kahlil, for your tireless service and for always lifting our Kings to higher ground!
