Facilitator of the Month: Honoring Brother Fiyah Abakah

This month, Kingmakers of Oakland is proud to highlight Brother Fiyah Abakah as our Facilitator of the Month! His journey with us represents a true full-circle moment. Having been connected to AAMA and Kingmakers of Oakland since elementary school, Fiyah attended Oakland High School before graduating from MetWest High School. Now, he steps into a leadership role teaching the Crowns curriculum at his very own high school alma mater.

Brother Fiyah doesn't just teach the Kingmakers of Oakland (KOO) mission and values, he embodies them every single day. Fiyah walks it and talks it consistently. He leads with love and passion, remains deeply African-centered, and embodies a collaborative spirit that inspires everyone around him.

His commitment runs even deeper than his individual passion; it is part of a legacy. Roughly 15 years ago, I  hired Fiyah’s father to teach in Oakland Unified School District. Today, seeing Fiyah step into those same shoes in the same district proves that these principles are more than organizational goals, they are family values that he was raised with.

When the opportunity arose to facilitate at MetWest, Fiyah reached out immediately and stood out during the selection process as the candidate best equipped to guide our young kings. His brilliance, dedication, and deep roots in the community make him an extraordinary role model as he helps our students pursue their passions and dreams.
