Honoring Our Village Builders
At Kingmakers of Oakland, we know that it truly takes a village to raise a King. Every program we launch, every curriculum we build, and every young man we uplift is fueled by the unwavering support of our community.
Starting this month, we are launching a new section in our newsletter to intentionally acknowledge the village builders who financially support our mission. Because this is our very first time doing this, we have a beautiful backlog of generous folks to shout out!
Thanks to this incredible community, we raised over $5,500 this summer to support our Kings! We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the following individuals who poured into our youth:
Thank you to: Matin Abdel-Qawi, Khadija Robinson, Eduardo Valadez, Nyaradzo Kundidzora, Tobin Thomas, Talenea C Dixon, Sylvia Graham, Gregory Redmond, Hang Tra, Dillon Beers, TJ Lackey, Adam Orla-Bukowski, Jonaya Brazil, Sonia Beers, Jessica Corona, Shaka Jamal Redmond, Jason Riley, Mengisteab Gebrezgiabher, Stephanie Joseph, Christian Haynes, Chris Chatmon, Akbar Pasha, Shia Smith, Sharon Tyler, Jahi Awakoaiye, George & Deborah Woods, Carla Dartis & Steve Carter, David Walker, Lakisha Young, Kevin Tolliver, Jenifer Brown, Shiree Teng, Babalwa Kwanele, James Stattion, Tamu Bass, Jessica Poole, Felicia Jeffley, Leandrew Robinson, Adrienne Rogers, Sonia Russell, Quang Dang, Patricia Baxter, Bosco Kante, Damari Lawrence, Titilayo Makini, LaShawn Chatmon, Jared Joiner, Fannie Pettis, Brittany Njissang, Deborah Clearwaters, Caleb Mathews, Gabriel Graham-Kermah, Tanya Scott, Tim Thomas, Tom Harrison, Markeda Williams, C Harper, Dorthy Ross, Godfrey Powell, Angel Ortega, Ray Roundtree, Shekela Wattley, Iraida Bardell, and our wonderful anonymous donors!
We were especially moved by the beautiful notes you left alongside your gifts. One grandmother shared: "Our family has experienced the amazing work and support provided by your organization. My grandson... is a product of your program via AAMA. [He] recently received his B.A. and continues to thrive."
Another parent wrote: "Thank you for providing a safe, fun, and inspiring learning environment for my son." And a community member perfectly captured the spirit of our recent showcase: "We are so proud of you. Thank you for being wise architects of our future!"
Thank you all for believing in our Kings. If you would like to join the village and support our fall afterschool programs, you can make a donation here.
