We’re excited to share that the Kingmakers of Oakland YouTube channel has officially been refreshed and reorganized, making it easier than ever to experience the powerful stories at the heart of our work. This upgrade isn’t just cosmetic, it’s a strategic step forward in how we tell stories, build community, and expand impact.

Over the past few months, we’ve restructured the channel to spotlight our strongest video series and re-release content with renewed intention. You’ll now find curated playlists that center youth voice, culture, and education, including Portraits of a King, which highlights the lived experiences of young Black men, and Inside KOO Studios, featuring artists, educators, and cultural leaders shaping the narrative. We’ve also refreshed titles, thumbnails, and descriptions to make our stories more discoverable and engaging for new audiences.

Why does this matter right now? Growing our subscriber base is key to unlocking YouTube monetization, which allows us to reinvest directly into our youth programs — supporting student creatives, expanding digital storytelling opportunities, and funding future content created by and for our Kings.
