This month, we are proud to recognize Robert G. Buckner V—known to our village as Sonny—as our Student of the Month. As a Tribe Leader in the Sankofa Kings program, Sonny has emerged as a deeply grounded, visionary presence among his peers, demonstrating exactly what it means to lead with both purpose and grace.
Sonny’s commitment to the Kingmakers mission and his unwavering focus on learning have set a powerful tone for his entire tribe. What truly sets his leadership apart, however, is his calm and inspiring demeanor. He doesn’t just command a room; he intentionally shares space. Whether he is guiding his tribe toward a strong research project or actively prompting peers to share their contributions and let their voices be heard, Sonny ensures that everyone rises together.
