Last Call: Join the Fall 2026 Sankofa Kings Cohort!
Family, the time has come! On Wednesday, October 7th, Kingmakers of Oakland officially launches our Fall 2026 cohort of Sankofa Kings, and we have a few final spots open for young Black men ready to step into their power.
Sankofa Kings is an intergenerational fellowship that empowers scholars to move beyond being passive consumers of technology and become active community builders. This season, our Kings will focus on identifying "community bugs"—the real-world social, structural, and technological challenges facing our neighborhoods—and using critical thinking, human-centered design, and emerging AI tools to engineer meaningful solutions.
Grounded in cultural identity, ancestral wisdom, and brotherhood, scholars build real-world leadership skills while learning why solving these community issues matters for our collective future. Through hands-on mentorship and collaborative problem-solving, scholars build digital literacy, confidence, and portfolios that set them up for long-term success.

Who Should Apply: Black male youth in middle and high school
Focus: Community problem-solving, technical mentorship, and identity-centered leadership
