TFI: Our College Readiness Program Is Looking for Its Next Oakland Kings!
What if preparing for college was about more than grades and applications?
What if it was also about finding your brotherhood, building confidence, exploring your future, and being surrounded by people who believe in your potential?
TFI is looking for its next group of Oakland Kings.
TFI is a completely free, four-year youth development and college readiness program for Black and Brown young men entering 9th grade who live or attend school in Oakland.
More Than College Access
TFI Kings receive year-round academic advising, mental health support, college tours, career exposure, mentorship, and leadership development. Just as importantly, they become part of a brotherhood that encourages them to grow, set goals, and take ownership of their future.
Each week, Kings spend six hours together learning, building relationships, exploring new opportunities, and supporting one another. Over four years, these experiences help young men develop the confidence, connections, and skills to navigate what comes next.

TFI creates opportunities for Kings to fly around the country and experience college campuses, connect with professionals, explore careers, and see themselves in new spaces. Whether their future leads to college, entrepreneurship, healthcare, technology, the trades, or another path, Kings are encouraged to think bigger about what is possible.
And you do not need a perfect GPA to apply. Just potential and a desire to grow.

The Program: A completely free, four-year youth development and college readiness program for Black and Brown young men entering 9th grade who live or attend school in Oakland.
The Schedule: Three Saturdays per month, with six-hour sessions throughout the year. The next cohort launches October 17th.
